So far, no one has lost their wheels with Rimgard rim locks fitted, and only in a few cases has the thief, despite Rimgard, been unable to resist trying anyway.
It's clear that it's difficult with an attempted theft, but we can hardly see what the alternative would have been if Rimgard had not been mounted on the wheels.
BMW's Norra Djurgårdsstaden
Car: BMW M2 Competition
Where: Garage in Norra Djurgårdsstaden, Stockholm
What: On the night of November 2020, this BMW was butchered for car parts in a multi-car garage in Norra Djurgårdsstaden. The car was butchered for front parts, lights, engine parts, etc. Experienced brand mechanics estimate that the theft took several hours for at least two people with the right tools. The same car got rid of complete ceramic brakes and rims in late summer 2019.
After the original incident, the owner decided to get Rimgard rim locks and therefore this time got to keep the wheels despite two hours of attempted theft!
Honda in Lowell, Massachusetts
Car: Honda Accord
Where: Lowell, Massachusetts, USA
What: This Honda Accord owner had on a previous occasion suffered from wheel theft, which is very common with Honda Accords in particular, and therefore acquired Rimgard's rim lock.
The thieves came back and this time they were met by Rimgard's rim lock, which caused them to smash the passenger window in search of the keys in the glove compartment. On Rimgard's advice, the car owner kept the keys in the trunk and/or at home, which led to all that the thieves managed to steal this time being a mobile phone charger!
The Volvo in northern Stockholm
Car: Volvo XC90
Where: North Stockholm
What: This car owner had also previously suffered from wheel theft, which is more common than you think even in Sweden, and therefore acquired Rimgard's rim lock.
In this case, the thieves had tried everything - drilled the lock, angle-grinded the arms of the rim lock and other things without success. This time too - a very satisfied Rimgard customer!
The Porsche in Söder, Stockholm
Car: Porsche Macan
Where: Garage at Södermalm, Stockholm
What: This Porsche Macan owner had also suffered from wheel theft and therefore acquired Rimgard's rim lock. In connection with the purchase of rim locks, he also acquired a motion-activated surveillance camera for the windshield.
When the thieves returned, as they often do to pick the fresh new set of rims from the insurance case, they were met by Rimgard's rim lock. You can clearly see in the film that they quickly realize that you shouldn't give in to that. Soon after, they also discover the surveillance camera and leave with their tails between their legs!
